2v2 Backyard Soccer Pitch
The most popular backyard build. A 2v2 pitch fits in a typical yard, keeps every kid on the ball, and turns into a solo training box once walls go up.

Why families pick 2v2
Fits most yards
A 2v2 field works in a lot of ordinary backyards, side yards and even some front yards.
Nobody stands around
With four players, every kid touches the ball constantly. There’s no place to hide on a pitch this size.
Solo training box
Add walls and one kid can train alone, passing and receiving off the panels for as long as they want.
Grows with them
Older kids keep using it for 1v1 moves, quick finishing and first-touch work.
Planning a 2v2 pitch
Start with the longest flat stretch of yard you have. Length matters more than width, so a 40 ft run with 25 ft of width plays better than a square of the same area.
Leave a few feet around the field for walls, netting posts and a way in and out. If the yard backs onto a pool, a street or a neighbor, ball-stop netting behind the goals is worth it.
Panel walls are the most common choice at this size. They keep the ball in play and give kids a wall to pass off when they practice alone.
To scale
What a pitch looks like in a real backyard
Two real lots drawn to scale, street and driveway right where they are. A 2v2 fits a typical back yard, and a 3v3 fits a deeper one.

FAQ
Common questions
How big is a 2v2 backyard pitch?
Most 2v2 pitches are between about 30 × 20 ft and 40 × 25 ft. Plan for roughly 45 × 30 ft of total space so there’s room for walls and access.
Is 2v2 too small for older kids?
No. Older players use a 2v2 pitch for 1v1 battles, first touch and finishing. The small space forces quick decisions, which is exactly what they need to practice.
Which walls work best for a 2v2 pitch?
Panel walls are the most popular because they work for games and solo wall training. Rebound boards suit younger kids and front yards.
